What Your First Visit Really Looks Like, and What Our Nervous System Scans Reveal About Your Health
We call it Insight Technology, and it changes everything about how we care for you. Let us walk you through exactly what to expect, because we believe you should never have to wonder what is happening with your own body.
Why We Scan Before We Do Anything Else
Here is the heart of our philosophy. Your nervous system controls and coordinates every single function in your body, from your heartbeat to your digestion to how you handle stress. When there is interference in that system, which chiropractors call subluxation, your body cannot function or heal the way it was designed to.
The problem is that nervous system interference does not always announce itself with pain. In fact, by the time you feel a symptom, the underlying issue has often been building for a long time. That is why we do not want to rely on how you feel alone. We want to measure what is actually happening. Because when we can see the problem clearly, we can care for you precisely, and you can watch your own progress over time.
What Do Our Nervous System Scans Measure?
Insight Technology is non-invasive, completely painless, and radiation-free. It is safe for everyone, from newborn babies to expecting moms to grandparents. It uses gentle sensors, and it involves three complementary scans that together give us a complete picture of your nervous system.
Surface EM: Measuring Muscle Activity. This scan reads the electrical activity in the muscles that support and surround your spine. Those muscles are controlled by your nervous system, so their activity tells us a great deal about how your nervous system is communicating with your body. It shows us where you may be holding excess tension, where energy is being wasted, and where your system is out of balance.
Thermography: Measuring Regulation. This scan reads temperature patterns along your spine, which reflect how well your autonomic nervous system is regulating your organs and blood flow. The autonomic nervous system runs everything you do not consciously think about, so this scan reveals how well your body is managing itself behind the scenes. For babies, we do not even need to touch the skin.
Heart Rate Variability: Measuring Adaptability. This is one of the most powerful measures of overall health and resilience that exists. HRV measures how well your nervous system can adapt and shift between stress and recovery. A resilient, adaptable nervous system is the foundation of good health. Low HRV tells us your system is overtaxed and stuck in stress mode, which is something we see constantly and something we can help.
Seeing Where You Are, and Where You Have Been
The three scans show us where your nervous system is functioning in present time, right now, on the day of your visit. That is incredibly valuable, but we also want to understand the story of how your body got here.
For adults, this is where X-rays come in. X-rays show us the structural history of your spine, the wear, the alignment, and the patterns that have developed over years of living in your body. Together, the scans and the X-rays give us both chapters of your story. The scans show us where you are, and the X-rays show us where you have been. Please note that we never take X-rays on pregnant moms or on babies and young children. Their care is guided by the gentle scans alone, which are completely safe for them.
What Happens After Your Nervous System Scans?
Once we have your scan results, we do something that surprises a lot of new patients. We sit down with you and actually show you what we found. You will see your own results, in color, and we will walk you through what they mean in plain language. No jargon, no mystery, no rushing.
From there, we build a care plan that is specific to you and your nervous system, not a one size fits all approach. And because we have your baseline scans on file, we can rescan you over time to objectively track your progress. You will not have to wonder whether care is working. You will be able to see it for yourself.
So many patients tell us the same thing after their first visit. They say it was the first time anyone had ever actually shown them what was going on in their body, instead of just telling them. That moment of finally understanding is one of our favorite parts of what we do.
Why This Matters So Much
We live in a world where health care so often feels rushed, impersonal, and reactive. You show up with a problem, you get a quick fix, and you leave without ever really understanding your own body. We built Healthy Beginnings to be the opposite of that.
Our scanning technology reflects our deepest belief, which is that you deserve to understand your health, to see it clearly, and to be a true partner in your own care. When you can see what your nervous system is doing, you can make informed decisions, you can track real progress, and you can finally get to the root of things instead of chasing symptoms forever.
Come See What Your Nervous System Has Been Telling You
Whether you are dealing with pain, stress, fatigue, or a health challenge that no one has been able to explain, or you simply want to be proactive about your family’s health, your first visit will give you answers you have likely never had access to before. There is no pressure, just honest information and a clear path forward.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens at your first chiropractic appointment at Healthy Beginnings Chiropractic?
Your first visit begins with a conversation about your health history and concerns, followed by non-invasive nervous system scans using Insight Technology. For appropriate adult patients, X-rays may also be used to evaluate the structural history of the spine. We then review the findings with you and use that information to develop an individualized care plan.
What are chiropractic nervous system scans?
At Healthy Beginnings Chiropractic, nervous system scans use Insight Technology to measure different aspects of nervous system function. Surface EMG evaluates muscle activity along the spine, thermography measures temperature patterns associated with autonomic regulation, and Heart Rate Variability evaluates adaptability between stress and recovery.
Do nervous system scans hurt?
No. The scans are non-invasive, painless, and radiation-free. They use gentle sensors to gather information about nervous system function.
Are nervous system scans safe during pregnancy and for children?
The Insight scans used at Healthy Beginnings Chiropractic are non-invasive and radiation-free. Dr. Felicity states in the article that they are used with patients ranging from babies to pregnant women and grandparents. X-rays, however, are not taken on pregnant patients, babies, or young children.
Why do you rescan patients during chiropractic care?
Rescanning allows us to compare your current nervous system function with your original baseline. This gives both the doctor and patient objective information that can be used to track changes over time.
